The rules are simple for this one… To enjoy this activity, children will use their decoding skills to read the CVC word that is printed on one card and then match the word to the correct picture.
Another great perk – preparation for this activity is minimal! Simply cut out the different cards. I do suggest laminating them for extra durability to make sure they last.ย

Haunted House Word Families
If you want your students to have some extra practice with word families, check out this fun and spooky worksheet. This worksheet is designed to help little learners read and write word family words.
Inside each haunted house image, you will find different word family endings, such as -ed, -op, or -am. A word family has a short vowel sound and a consonant ending. Students are to then write different words that would belong in each word family.
Underneath each haunted house are three lines for students to write down CVC words that end in the same word family as the word family in the house.

Writing Halloween CVC Words
This worksheet is all about working on writing different CVC words. While the kids work on writing the CVC words, they will have a blast looking at the different Halloween pictures on the page. Print out and use this simple worksheet at literacy stations!
In this simple worksheet, children will look at the different Halloween images on the page. Each box has a different Halloween picture that follows the CVC spelling pattern. We are including words like rat, cat, bat, and pot. Students will then write the CVC word underneath the picture.
